In Skyhop characters are an adventure of their own: there are over 220 of them, with rarities, roles and animations, and the rarest transform mid-combo. This guide explains how many characters there are, how they differ and how to build your collection for free. You can start with Kiro the fox: Play now, no sign-up.
How many characters Skyhop has
Skyhop has over 220 characters, and the Wardrobe counter shows 226. Among them are 34 Mythics and 7 Celestials, the two rarest groups in the game.
Your first character is Kiro the fox, who knows every ledge of the Frost Spire. More heroes from the story join quickly, and you collect the rest as you play. Every character has its own look, jump animation and short bio, and in Team Battles also a role and an element.
Rarities: from Common to Celestial
Rarity tells you how hard a character is to get and how rich its presentation is. Common characters are the most frequent, Celestials the rarest.
| Rarity | What sets it apart |
|---|---|
| Common | starter and story characters, easy to get |
| Rare | more interesting outfits and animations |
| Epic | clear effects when jumping |
| Legendary | rich presentation, rarer in chests |
| Mythic | 34 characters, transform during combos, never in the Shop |
| Celestial | 7 characters, their own revelation scene, never in the Shop |
Rarity does not change the jump physics. A Mythic character jumps exactly as high as a Common one, so nobody gets a collection advantage on the Free Climb leaderboard.
The Celestials: the seven rarest
The Celestials are seven heroes inspired by angels from ancient texts: Ophanim, Seraph, Cherub, Chayot, Metatron, Erelim and Sandalphon. This is the rarest rarity in the game, and each of them has a revelation scene of its own.
When you land a combo, a Celestial transforms: first a pillar of light, then rays, and finally the transformed form it keeps climbing in. Metatron is special: he unlocks only once you have collected every other character in the Album. In the Wardrobe you see silhouettes of the Celestials you do not have yet, so you always know how many are missing from the full seven.
The Mythics: transformation mid-combo
The Mythics are 34 characters, including the Kraken Lord, the Eclipse Dragon and Kirin. Like the Celestials, they change before your eyes during a long combo.
You can watch every transformation in the Wardrobe preview before you pick a character for a run. It is a nice way to decide who you want to climb the Daily Tower with: the transformation is purely visual, but a long combo with an effect simply looks better.
Does a character give an advantage while climbing
No. While climbing, a character only changes how you look, because skins are purely cosmetic, and Free Climb has no gear and no upgrades during the run.
Team Battles are different. There you take three heroes and place them in the front or back line, and their roles (such as Hunter or Marksman), elements and skills all matter. Kiro the fox is an ice Hunter who hits weakened enemies harder. How to build a team for the first bosses is covered in the guide on Team Battles against Avalanche, Kraken and Black Hole.
How to collect characters without paying
You collect characters by playing: coins and gems come from runs, missions, daily rewards and Adventure, and you spend them on chests and on some characters in the Shop. You cannot buy Mythics or Celestials in the Shop; they only come from chests and rewards.
A practical plan for your first week:
- Claim your reward every day in the menu and check Missions. It is the simplest source of coins.
- Play Adventure in order. New worlds give chests and story characters.
- Check the Shop. The character offer changes every few hours, and the higher your account level, the more Rare and Epic characters it holds.
- Create an account once your collection grows. Guest progress lives on one device only, and with an account you will not lose characters when you change phones.
The Wardrobe and the Album: where to see your collection
The Wardrobe is where you pick your character and accessories, and the Album shows the whole collection and what is still missing. You find both behind the Wardrobe button in the bottom menu bar.
In the Wardrobe you can filter the collection by characters, hats, glasses, faces, shoes, back items, weapons, auras and trails. So you can build your own look, for example Kiro in a hat from any set and with a trail from another character. The Album tracks your collection progress, so you can see at a glance how many characters are still missing.
To keep the same characters on your phone and computer, sign in with the same account on both. How saving works is explained in the guide play on your phone without a download.
Your first character is already waiting on the ledge. Play now, no sign-up.
