A hit into a weakness deals ×1.3 damage, and each element applies its own status, which can combine with others into reactions. Most element charts you find online cover huge monster-collecting games with eighteen types; this one is short, and every number below comes from the current version of the game. Which element beats which?
The table shows the damage multiplier of the attacker (row) against the defender (column). Correct as of 7 November 2026.
| Attack ↓ / Defense → | Fire | Ice | Water | Neutral |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fire | ×1 | ×1.3 | ×0.8 | ×1 |
| Ice | ×0.8 | ×1 | ×1.3 | ×1 |
| Water | ×1.3 | ×0.8 | ×1 | ×1 |
| Neutral | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 | ×1 |
The neutral elements are Shadow, Storm, Nature, Stone and Light. They have no edge and no weakness, so they never lose damage, but they never gain any either. That makes a neutral hero a safe pick when you don't know the enemy yet.
The edge isn't only about damage. A hit into a weakness gets +15 status accuracy, and a hit into a resisting element gets −15. In practice, Ice on Water freezes more often and Fire on Water sets fewer fires. The battle screen shows this as you play: a ▲ next to the damage number means advantage, a ▼ means you were resisted, and the arrow on target selection tells you whom to hit.
What status does each element apply?
Every hero applies the status of their element. The first three matter most because they create reactions.
| Element | Status | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Ice | Frost | up to 3 stacks, each −8% Speed; 3 stacks = Freeze |
| Fire | Burn | up to 5 stacks; at the start of the target's turn it burns for 25% of the attacker's Attack per stack, lasts 2 turns |
| Water | Soaked | 2 turns; deals no damage itself, but boosts Frost and puts out Burn |
| Nature | Weighed Down | −30% Speed for 2 turns |
| Storm | Winded | −20% Attack for 1 turn |
| Stone | Crack | −25% Defense for 2 turns |
| Light | Marked | target takes +20% damage for 2 turns |
| Shadow | Ink | −25 status accuracy and 25 percentage points less crit chance, 2 turns |
Your chance to land a status depends on the Skill, the elemental edge and the target's Resistance. Even against high Resistance a status lands at least 15% of the time, so it's worth trying on bosses too.
How does Freeze work?
When a target collects three Frost stacks, it freezes and loses its next move. This is the strongest defense in the game: a frozen boss can't fire off a big attack that the game marks as breakable by frost, such as Avalanche's Landslide.
Two limits apply:
- A boss can freeze at most once every 3 turns. Try too early and the game shows "immune to Freeze" and leaves it on two stacks. Count turns and save the last Frost for the boss's warning.
- A regular enemy is briefly immune to another Freeze after it thaws.
Enemies can freeze your team as well. Bu has the Warmth passive: for the first 2 turns of a battle, no one on the team gets Frost. Bu's Warm Wisp Skill removes Frost from the weakest ally.
What are the elemental reactions?
Soaked is the key to both reactions in the game.
Soaked + Frost = double Frost. Every Frost stack on a Soaked target counts twice. Two hits with Frost are then enough to freeze it. This is the best pairing in the game: a Water hero soaks, an Ice hero freezes.
Soaked + Burn = Steam. Burn on a Soaked target doesn't start burning. Instead it instantly deals 60% of the attacker's Attack, and Soaked is removed. That's good news when an enemy is burning your team: a Soaked hero swaps two turns of burning for a single hit. That's why the game suggests bringing Water against bosses that apply Burn.
The Kraken has a special skin that keeps it Soaked for the entire fight. Frost always lands twice on it, and Steam doesn't wash the Soaked state off. That's why Ice is so strong against it. A turn-by-turn plan for the Kraken, Avalanche and Black Hole is in the Team Battle boss guide.
Which heroes have which element?
Starter heroes and the ones the game recommends most often:
| Hero | Element | Role | What to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Yeti | Ice | Guardian | Thick Fur: −20% damage from Burn |
| Nova | Ice | Marksman | Freezing Shot: Frost ×2 |
| Kiro | Ice | Hunter | Instinct: +20% vs targets below 50% HP |
| Phoenix | Fire | Mage | Inferno: Burn ×2 on all enemies |
| Titan | Fire | Guardian | Steel Plates: reflects 15% of melee damage |
| Takeda | Fire | Bruiser | Blazing Blade: Burn ×2 |
| Bu | Fire | Healer | Warmth: 2 turns without Frost |
| Ola | Water | Bruiser | Squeeze: Weighed Down and Soaked |
| Zefir | Water | Healer | Still Waters: team +10% Defense |
Heroes from the wider collection cover all eight elements. Neutral ones (Storm or Nature, for example) are never resisted, so they work well against bosses without a weakness. To see who else you can unlock, read the guide to Skyhop's 220+ characters.
Which element is each realm boss weak to?
The campaign has 17 realms in five acts. The table lists each boss's element and weakness (correct as of 7 November 2026).
| Realm | Boss | Boss element | Weakness |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Frost Spire | Avalanche | Ice | Fire |
| 2. The Deep | Kraken | Water | Ice |
| 3. Orbit | Black Hole | Shadow | none |
| 4. Volcano Forge | Magma Dragon | Fire | Water |
| 5. Shadow Garden | Chameleon | Shadow | none |
| 6. Storm Desert | Storm Djinn | Fire | Water |
| 7. Sunken City | Queen of the Deep | Water | Ice |
| 8. Crystal Caves | Crystal Colossus | Ice | Fire |
| 9. Sky Citadel | The Storm Lord | Water | Ice |
| 10. Extinguisher's Heart | The Snuffer | Shadow | none |
| 11. Mist Marshes | Mist Witch | Water | Ice |
| 12. Clock Tower | Clockmaker | Fire | Water |
| 13. Aurora Realm | Aurora Leviathan | Ice | Fire |
| 14. Shadow Archive | Archive Keeper | Shadow | none |
| 15. Star Reef | Reef Mother | Water | Ice |
| 16. Fallen Sun | Fallen Sun | Fire | Water |
| 17. Weaver's Throne | Night Weaver | Shadow | none |
The pattern is simple: beat the five Water bosses with Ice, the four Fire bosses with Water and the three Ice bosses with Fire. The five Shadow bosses have no weakness, so neutral damage, Healers and good timing on your Special decide those fights.
The game suggests a team for every boss. Against Water bosses it most often recommends Yeti, Nova and Kiro or Zefir; against Fire bosses Ola, Yeti and Zefir; against Ice bosses Titan, Phoenix and Zefir; and against Shadow bosses Titan, Kiro and Zefir.
Common mistakes with elements
- Fire against Water. ×0.8 damage and Steam instead of Burn — a double loss.
- Frost at the wrong moment. A boss can freeze only once every 3 turns. Freezing it when nothing big is coming wastes the chance to cancel its strongest attack.
- No Soaked source in an Ice team. One Water hero cuts the road to Freeze by one hit.
- Looking only at elements. Role and front or back line matter just as much. An elemental edge won't save a team without a Healer.
Before the battle, prepare in the chase: stars cut the boss's HP and Perfect Hops charge your heroes' energy. If you want a team that keeps going between battles, the guide to Daily Tower shows how to warm up your timing in short runs. Play now, no sign-up — on phone and desktop.
Questions and answers
Which element beats which in Skyhop?
Fire beats Ice, Ice beats Water and Water beats Fire. Shadow, Storm, Nature, Stone and Light are neutral, with no edge and no weakness.
How much damage does an elemental advantage add?
A hit into a weakness deals ×1.3 damage and gets +15 status accuracy. A hit into a resisting element deals only ×0.8 and gets −15.
What happens when Frost hits a Soaked enemy?
Frost counts twice. Three Frost stacks freeze the target, so on a Soaked enemy two Frost hits are enough instead of three.
Is Fire any good against Water?
Not really. The hit is reduced to ×0.8, and Burn on a Soaked target turns into Steam, a one-off hit instead of two turns of burning.
Which element is the Kraken weak to?
Ice. The Kraken is Soaked for the whole fight, so every Frost stack lands twice and it freezes quickly.
