You are in a school computer lab, everyone at their own machine, and you want to play something together that needs no install and no admin rights. Or you are in different cities and only have your phones. Either way, a browser is enough. This guide shows step by step how to create a Skyhop room for up to 10 players, invite your friends and race on the same tower. If you have not tried the game yet, play one run first.

How it works in short

A room is a shared game for up to 10 players on the same tower. One player with an account creates the room and gets a 6-character code and a link; everyone else joins from any computer or phone, guests included.

There are two modes:

Mode Rules Length
Race the same tower for everyone, fall and you are out 3 minutes
Daily Tower together everyone plays their own Daily Tower run, scores add up to a shared room record one run each

There is nothing to install. The game runs in the browser, so it suits school computers where you are not allowed to add software.

Step by step: create a room

  1. Open Skyhop and sign in (Profile, then create an account with email or Google). Only the room creator needs an account.
  2. On the Start screen choose Play with friends.
  3. Pick a mode: Race or Daily Tower together.
  4. The game shows a room code (6 characters) and a button to copy the link. Write the code on the board or drop the link in your class chat.
  5. Wait in the lobby until everyone has joined and marked themselves ready. The player list shows who is ready and who is still waiting.
  6. When everyone is ready, start. After a short countdown, everyone sets off at the same moment, timed by the server clock.

In the lobby you can send emotes from a fixed list of eight. There is no free text chat, so there is nothing to moderate. The room owner can remove a player; a removed player cannot come back into that round.

There are three ways into a room:

  • Code: on the Play with friends screen, type the 6-character code. Works for guests.
  • Link: open your friend's link in a browser. The room opens right away, on phones too.
  • Invite: if you are friends in the game, the owner invites you with one click or with "Invite everyone online". An invite is valid for 30 minutes.

A guest can join a room but cannot create one. That is on purpose: every room has an owner who can remove someone who is causing trouble.

The 3-minute race: how to win

Everyone gets the same tower and the same conditions, with no gear and no hero traits, so only technique matters. During the run you see:

  • a position bar with each player's place, nickname, live floor and combo,
  • rival ghosts, see-through silhouettes in each player's colour with a name tag,
  • a clock counting down to the end of the round.

The order is decided like this: first, who stayed on the tower longest (surviving until the gong counts as longest), then the higher floor, then the combo. Fall and you are out, and the bar shows the floor you fell from.

That leads to a simple plan. Play safe for the first 30 seconds, because an early fall wipes out the whole round. A long combo only pays off once you are well ahead of the camera. The basics of jumping are in the guide to a tower climbing game in your browser.

After the round the owner can tap Rematch: the same code, the same players, a new tower.

Daily Tower together

In this mode everyone plays a normal run on the Daily Tower, the tower that stays the same for every player for a whole day. Your score counts towards your daily leaderboard, and it also adds to the room's shared record, the sum of everyone's scores in the round. It is a good choice when not everyone can play in the same minute, or when some players are just starting out.

On school lab computers

  • No install, no admin rights. A browser and the address skyhop.pl are all you need.
  • Controls: arrow keys and Space. Holding Space auto-jumps.
  • A guest save stays in that browser. If the school wipes the browser after you log out, guest progress is gone. That does not affect the room, but anyone who wants to keep progress should create an account and sign out afterwards.
  • School rules come first. Play during breaks or when the teacher allows it. We do not help anyone get around school filters, and it is not worth trying.

Friends and player codes

If you play often, add each other as friends (this needs an account). Everyone has a code in the format SKY- plus six characters and an invite link. You can also find a friend by the start of their nickname. The list shows who is online, who is in a game and who is in a room. Status, level and records are visible to friends only, and you can hide your online status.

Fair play: scores are checked

During the race you see a live preview, but only a run replayed and checked on the server goes into the results table. If the preview was clearly better than the replayed run, the score is marked as checked lower. So nobody can simply type in a higher floor.

Common problems

  • "No room with that code". A room expires after 20 minutes without activity. Create a new one.
  • I cannot create a room. Creating needs an account. You can join as a guest.
  • Someone does not see the invite. Invites arrive within a minute and last 30 minutes; sending the link is simpler.

Questions and answers

What game can friends play together on school computers without installing anything?

A browser game with room codes is the simplest choice. In Skyhop one player with an account creates a room, and up to 10 players join with a code or a link, guests included, with nothing to install.

How many players can join one Skyhop room?

Up to 10. Everyone climbs the same tower, sees the rivals' ghosts and a live bar with each player's place, floor and combo.

Does everyone need an account?

No. Only the player who creates the room needs an account. Everyone else joins with a code or from a link as a guest.

How long is a room race?

3 minutes. Fall and you are out; the winner is whoever stays on the tower longest, then the higher floor, then the combo.

Can someone fake a room score?

Not easily. The results table does not use the live preview; it uses the run replayed and checked on the server.
