"Does this game ever end?" is one of the first questions people ask about a floor jumping game. In the classic tower climbers the answer varied; in Skyhop it is simple: Free Climb never ends. This guide shows what waits on the higher floors, where the milestones are and how to climb further. See for yourself: Play now, no sign-up.

Does the tower ever end

No, in Skyhop the Free Climb tower never ends. Only your run ends, when you fall below the edge of the screen, while the tower carries on past every milestone, floor 10,000 included.

That matters because the goal is always the same: climb higher than last time. There is no final level after which the game is "done", so every record can be beaten. In the menu, under the Free Climb tile, you see your best score and know right away how far the next milestone is.

A new world every 100 floors

Every 100 floors the tower changes world: a new backdrop, new ledge colours and new decorations. That way you can see your progress even though the moves stay the same.

The first floors are the Frozen Foothills, with snow on the ledges. Further up come, among others, an emerald jungle from floor 100, sky islands from floor 300, a pharaohs' desert from floor 500 and a volcano from floor 700. Each new world shows a banner with its name, so it is easy to remember where your best run ended.

Up to floor 1,000 the tower is plain: regular ledges and a wider ledge every 100 floors where you can catch your breath. It is good ground for learning run-ups and wall bounces.

Milestones: 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and beyond

Milestones are special worlds on round floors, with a richer backdrop of their own and a golden banner. The first one waits on floor 1,000, and the most famous, the Top of the World, on floor 10,000.

Floor Milestone
1,000 Golden Terraces
2,000 Aurora Gardens
3,000 Pearl Lagoon
4,000 Obsidian Citadel
5,000 Gate of Heaven
7,500 Silver Moon
10,000 Top of the World
15,000 Phoenix Nebula
20,000 Crown of Stars
25,000 Shore of Eternity
from 30,000, every 5,000 new versions in new colours, such as Golden Terraces II

The table shows that the game still has goals after the Top of the World. From floor 30,000 milestones return every 5,000 floors in new colours, so in theory the tower never ends.

What changes above floor 1,000

From floor 1,000 the tower splits into zones of 120 floors, each with its own mechanic and a gate at the end. The first gate covers floors 1,000 to 1,019, and the zones after it follow one another, each with its own rules.

Inside the zones you meet gusts of wind, slippery and crumbling ledges, conveyor belts, hail and meteor showers. The camera also has a minimum speed in every zone, which rises with the zone number. So a run to floor 1,500 needs a different game than a run to floor 500: less risk under falling hazards and more long combos that give you spare height. The basics of the climb are explained in the guide tower climbing game in your browser.

Why your run ends if the tower does not

Your run ends because the camera keeps moving up and you have to keep pace. The camera starts 5 seconds after your first move and speeds up over time, so the higher you are, the less room you have for mistakes.

When you climb fast and sit high on the screen, the camera catches up with you. That means a long combo gives you more than points: it also gives you a safety margin, because the higher you stand on the screen, the more time you have for the next jump. A combo is worth the floors squared divided by 10, so a 100-floor chain gives 1,000 points.

How to climb further: a plan for each milestone

The best plan is a set of stepping stones: floor 100 first, then 500, then 1,000 and the first gate. Each step needs a slightly different skill, so practise one thing at a time.

  1. Up to floor 100: a run-up across the whole ledge and a jump at full speed, which carries you almost 6 floors.
  2. Up to floor 500: wall bounces in the air. Hitting a wall while still rising lifts the jump by about 10%.
  3. Up to floor 1,000: combos. Each jump in the chain must land at least 2 floors higher, and you have 3 seconds for the next one.
  4. Above floor 1,000: reading the zones. Slow down before a gate and do not jump high under falling meteors.

If you play on a phone, the right control mode makes a big difference; see mobile controls: tilt or swipe.

Modes that do have a finish line

If you prefer a clear ending, pick Adventure: 100 worlds and 1,396 short levels, each with a finish and stars for goals. A duel lasts 90 seconds, and a race in a room with friends lasts 3 minutes.

The Daily Tower has its own rhythm too: for one day everyone plays the same ledge layout, with a daily leaderboard. It is a good way to see how far you get compared with other players, and it fits a short break; see browser games for a school break.

Questions and answers

Does the tower in Skyhop ever end?

No. Free Climb never ends. A new world starts every 100 floors, the Top of the World waits on floor 10,000, and the tower keeps going.

What is on floor 10,000?

The Top of the World, a milestone with its own banner and a backdrop under a galaxy. After it come more milestones on floors 15,000, 20,000 and 25,000, and from 30,000 one every 5,000 floors.

Why does my run end if the tower does not?

Because the camera keeps moving up and speeds up over time. When you fall below the bottom edge of the screen, the run ends and your highest floor counts.

Is there a mode with a finish line?

Yes. Adventure levels have a finish and stars for goals, a duel lasts 90 seconds and a race in a room with friends lasts 3 minutes.
